Abstract

A historic-literary and critical panorama on the autor of the work introducesthis study of the Classical tradition in the Hernandia. It examines the presence, character and function of the greek-latin themes with regard to poetictheory, the concept of heroism, historic factors, the vision over the Mexicans, landscape descriptions, the mythical datability of time and the genderscenes. The treatment of these topics, regardless of their conventionalcontent, points not only at the literary sources of the poem but also at anideological-religious evaluation of Antiquity.
