Abstract

There are a new kind of studies developed by Historical Linguistics and sciences like Archaeology that have revitalized considerably the study of the connections between the Basque and the Romanesque. This kind of knowledge can contribute to the systematic reconstructionof the consolidation of the Romance in Basque area, and to a better interpretation of the continuum of this northern dialect, as well as to the most suitable understanding of the situation of the Basque in Spanish in general.
