Abstract

Eugenio Coseriu and his school, especially Brigitte Schlieben-Lange, PeterKoch, Wulf Oesterreicher and Johannes Kabatek, developed a theory of languagetraditions. This article offers a relatively different theoretical point ofview, distinguishing between language traditions and discursive traditions, andoffering a necessary link between the theory of speech acts and the theory oflanguage traditions, which allows to understand the language activity of theindividual in the evolution of a language, in this case, Spanish.
