Section Policies

Articles
Research articles must make a substantial contribution to knowledge and advance understanding of their subject matter, as the result of an original and unpublished investigation with a solid and relevant theoretical and methodological base. Research articles should be no more than 30 pages in length; see Author guidelines. All submissions are initially assessed by the Editors or a member of the Editorial Board, who verifies if the submission fits the scope of journal and meets the standards expected in an academic publication. Once the submission passes this first filter, it is sent to two anonymous reviewers (see Peer review process). The review process is expected to take between six and eight months. Once a manuscript is accepted, the Editors and the Editorial Board decide whether it should be published as a research article or as a research note.

Notes
Research notes must make a contribution to knowledge and advance understanding of their subject matter, as the result of an original and unpublished investigation with a solid and relevant theoretical and methodological base, but only on a very specific problem. Research articles should be no more than 20 pages in length; see Author guidelines.

Book reviews present critical (and not just descriptive) appraisals of recent books in Hispanic literature and linguistics. They should be no more than 8 pages in length; see Author Guidelines for additional information. Reviews are assed by at least one member of the Editorial Board and by the Editors of the journal. The evaluation process is expected to take between one and three months.
