Abstract

The purpose of this article is to comment and remember Manuel Altolaguirre’sGarcilaso de la Vega (1933). Through this article, we will be able tounderstand the political, esthetical and ideological transcendence of this biographyby examiningthe configuration of the protagonist as lover and hero.Almost forgotten by readers and critics as well,Garcilaso de la Vegacombinespoetry with history. Although Altolaguirre approached the investigation in arigorous way, his recreation of the life of the poet from Toledo is guided byhis very own imagination and by his personal conception of love and heroism.
